Leader: Dot Jones
Get your binoculars ready for a special trip to WWT Slimbridge. One of the cool things about having Dot as a member and chair of DBWPS is she’s an awesome birder and volunteers as a guide in the hide at Slimbridge. All this means she has an intimate knowledge of the reserve; her expertise gives us the best possible chance of seeing the day’s highlights.
What We’ll See:
The Peak of Autumn Migration This October trip is timed to coincide with the climax of autumn migration. We hope to see early arrivals like the magnificent Golden Plover and Greater White-fronted Geese, along with wintering ducks such as Pintail and Wigeon. At this time of year, areas of the reserve will be building up with a fantastic number and variety of species. There’s always the exciting possibility of spotting a rare vagrant or two, and we can easily expect to see over 60 species during our walk.
