Otters on River Frome – Simon Ashley
According to ebird I’ve visited this area 159 times since Jan1st 2020. It’s close to where I live and close to where I work. It’s great to be able to step outside and within a few minutes be in a woodland stream and see dippers from just a few meters away. I’ve seen around 70 species in this area and hopefully we’ll see some decent birds and if we’re lucky some of the other wildlife on offer. It’s a great place for otters and now is about the best time of year to see them.
We’ll start outstide Travis Perkins at Wallbridge and meander along the canal and River Frome as far as the Stroud brewery – where we have the option to have lunch. We’ll need to book a table and pre-order food. I’ll share menu for those interested.
Target Birds
- Dipper
- Kingfisher
- Mandarin
- Goosander
Part of the walk will be a little bit muddy so stout boots are recommended – but it’s prett flat and generally easily walking.
