Located on the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, England, it’s a beautiful place to visit, especially for nature lovers and bird watchers.

Our visit, in the depths of winter, will take in the Middlebere Lookout – an new spacious hide – placed to take advantage of the large numbers of waders that congregate on the mudflats.

We’ll also look out for Dartford Warblers – Arne is a stronghold for them with over 70 nesting pairs.  We may also be lucky and spot Woodlark.

Other target birds include, White -Tailed Eagle – a pair from the Isle of Wight reintroduction have taken up residence and Avocet Arne is home to one of largest UK populations.

We’ll depart from Stroud at 7:30am aiming to arrive at Arne 10:00am.  Transport is lift share, we’ll use the WhatsApp group to co-ordinate that.

Bring a packed lunch, we’ll make sure to visit the cafe for hot drinks and cake.  Don’t forget to wrap up warm and wear stout boots – it can be muddy at this time of year.
