Gloucestershire based Dursley Birdwatching and Preservation Society (DBWPS) was formed in 1953 to bring together local people with an interest in birds and natural history.
Many years later it remains the aim of the Society to promote this interest, with a varied programme of outdoor field events, indoor meetings, weekends and social events, which enable many conservation projects to be supported.
DBWPS offers many benefits – indoor meetings are held at Dursley Community Centre during the winter months with excellent speakers on a wide range of subjects and on our outdoor field meetings we go to some of the most interesting birding areas in the country.
Our Website, Social media and monthly Bulletins keep members in touch with our activities and events including reports of meetings, sightings of birds in the area and other news.

The Society is affiliated to the RSPB, Gloucestershire Trust Nature Conservation and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. It has a partnership with the British Trust for Ornithology and the Gloucestershire Ornithological Co-ordinating Committee.
Where we go birding
As a society, we’ve been running trips for Gloucestershire-based birders since 1953. Gloucestershire is a fabulous place to go birding, and we try to plan a local trip at least once a month, complemented by a trip further afield. Additionally, we run an annual residential trip over a long weekend that lets our members explore those places that are out of reach of a day trip. Recently, these have included Pembrokeshire, Spurn, North Norfolk, Cornwall and Sussex.
