Cleeve Hill
April 13 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
FreeLeader: Arthur Ball

Andreas Trepte, CC BY-SA 2.5, Ring Ouzel
Cleeve Hill looms large over Cheltenham and its wide flat top proves to be a magnet for upland birds as they travel north on their spring migration to their breeding grounds. As a result it’s just about the most reliable place to see Ring Ouzel, these striking mountain thrushes are close cousins of our garden blackbirds and drop by annually for just an few days and grace this corner of Gloucestershire with their presence. We’re lucky to have Arthur Ball to lead this trip for us – he’s been birding this Common for of 30 years and always manages to find a Ring Ouzel or two.
With favourable conditions should we should also see Wheatear, Willow Warblers, Yellowhammer. Arthur also knows where the rare wild daffodils grow and these should be in full bloom.
We’ll meet in the Radio Mast Carpark at 10:30am for our guided tour.
